Wero is the new European payment method developed by the European Payments Initiative (EPI). It will replace iDEAL, and from the end of 2026 it will go live in the Netherlands under the name iDEAL by Wero. Where will Wero be rolled out?
In late 2025, Wero began rolling out the e-commerce version in Germany. In 2026, this rollout expands to Belgium, France and Luxembourg.
In The Netherlands, iDEAL will gradually be replaced by iDEAL by Wero in 2026. The migration will take around 6 to 9 months. During this period, both names will appear side by side. Merchants are asked to use the combined logo.
For webshops, this means that existing iDEAL integrations will need to be updated. Buckaroo supports you throughout this migration, ensuring a smooth transition.
