This payment method allows consumers to make trusted online payments through any Dutch bank. The payer's bank may be different from the seller's bank. To pay, the consumer selects his or her own bank from the iDEAL Banking Overview.
The payment is made in the banking app or in the online banking environment of the consumer's bank and is completed by confirming it with the banking app or with a confirmation code via e.dentifier, app, QR code or SMS.

If a payment via iDeal fails, the customer is returned to the online shop and can choose another payment method. We recommend clearly explaining in the online shop what will happen if an iDeal payment fails, so that there are no surprises for the customer.

When using iDeal, no personal data is shared with the online shop, except the payment details and the amount that has been paid. This is because the payment takes place in the bank's secure environment, where the customer is logged in with their own login details.
