Update the iDEAL logo in the checkout from 29 January 2026

What the new iDEAL | Wero logo means for your webshop checkout

The Dutch payment method iDEAL is getting ready for the future. Over the coming years, iDEAL will transition to Wero: one European payment platform for fast and secure online payments. The first visible step in this transition is the introduction of the iDEAL | Wero logo.

For merchants, the impact is small, but it is important to arrange this change in time.

When will the iDEAL logo change?

From 29 January and no later than 31 March 2026, the iDEAL logo in the checkout needs to be updated to the new iDEAL | Wero logo. The combined logo will remain visible throughout the transition period, which runs until the end of 2027. The goal is to keep the payment method recognisable for consumers, while clearly showing that iDEAL will eventually transition to Wero, without changing the payment experience. Consumers may already encounter the new logo in some places from 22 January.

Why iDEAL and Wero share one logo

iDEAL and Wero have deliberately chosen a transition with co-branding. According to both parties, this helps consumers maintain trust in the payment method, while the new Wero infrastructure is built behind the scenes.

Good to know:

• Payments are still processed by iDEAL during this phase.
• The technical migration will take place later and in phases. We will keep you informed.
• The logo update is separate from any technical changes.

Availability

Buckaroo will introduce Wero in phases. By the end of 2025, Wero will be available in Germany, followed by Belgium and the Netherlands in 2026. Once Wero is available, customers can easily implement this payment method via the Buckaroo platform.
