Ghout’s success story began in 2020 with the sale of spice racks. What started as a hobby for a furniture maker has grown into an international success. Owner Ron Roest began by technically designing and building the racks and is also responsible for marketing his product.
“During the coronavirus pandemic, I came up with the idea to make a spice rack. At that time, I never expected this hobby to grow into a business. After positive feedback from people around me, I listed a few racks on Marktplaats, just to see if there was actual demand.
Within one week, everything was sold out! After repeating this a few times, we knew there was potential. But I never imagined there would be so much demand, or that we would even sell internationally. We’ve even received several orders from the United States,” says Ron.
Ron: “To move forward, we expanded our organization. In a short time, we built a website including an online store and started advertising on Facebook & Instagram. From that moment on, things really took off.
This did mean we had to adjust our production. At first, we had many different sizes, but we quickly realized we could only maintain a limited number of formats. We also ran into several limitations with the website in terms of sales. That’s when we started thinking about how we could improve our website.”
“With online sales, we gained a lot of experience, which changed our requirements for our online store. After an extensive search, we started talks with Buckaroo. Besides the attractive transaction fees, there was another reason for us to switch.
Due to the demand for our product in the Netherlands, we believed there were many opportunities abroad as well. With our previous website, we lacked certain options to efficiently process international payments. With Buckaroo, we were able to add these options to our site.

Thanks to Buckaroo, we’ve truly been able to expand our reach, and our racks can now be found in some of the most unique places around the world.”
Ron sees plenty of long-term opportunities: “Of course, our product is incredibly useful because people cook everywhere and many use spices. By combining convenience and design, we’ve created a strong combination you don’t often see.
Besides spice racks, we realized there are more things in the culinary space that can be organized. We now also produce special wine racks and tea racks. We also sell oil bottles with labels. So we definitely have big plans for the future!”
