Remove the terms "credit cards" and "debit cards" on your payment page

Due to new rules from Mastercard and Visa, it is no longer allowed to use the terms "credit cards" or "debit cards" as a payment method on your payment page. This specific word must be replaced with the term "Cards". Additionally, the correct (current) logos of Mastercard and Visa should be used. We have this basically built into all our plug-ins by default. If you use our Buckaroo plug-ins, you do not need to adjust this yourself.

There is an exception. When you have edited the "Front-end Label" field, you must adjust this yourself. Below you'll find an example of how this looks in WooCommerce. You can adjust this field manually yourself.

Aren't you using Buckaroo plug-ins?

If you have set up your own payment page and used apps that are not from Buckaroo, you must adjust this yourself. We cannot do this for you. If you have outsourced the management of your website and are not sure which plug-ins you use, please contact your website administrator to check this and arrange it further.

Why was this rule put in place?

The terms "credit card" and/or "debit card" are sometimes still used as a catch-all term for multiple payment options (e.g., Visa, credit and debit). This is no longer allowed because it is not correct. The term "cards" may be used for this.

Check

Mastercard and Visa will conduct checks to see if the terms credit card and debit card are no longer used on payment pages. If you still have these terms in your checkout, you may be contacted and follow-up actions will be taken if you ignore this.
