Since its founding in 2008, MedPets has been thriving. The webshop, specialized in health products for animals, ships around 90,000 packages per month to six countries and continues to grow every year. This growth requires constant innovation in IT, logistics, customer service, and the payment page. Since 2018, MedPets has been using Riverty, directly via payment provider Buckaroo. The post-payment process is handled via Riverty, in collaboration with Buckaroo. "The biggest advantage of this partnership is that with Buckaroo, our customer service employees only need to log in to one system. They can see everything related to payments in one place and don’t have to switch between different dashboards, which allows them to help customers faster."
The European growth ambition has been an important reason to choose Riverty. "Buckaroo, together with Riverty, can support us internationally. I chose Riverty because I had a good feeling about the organization, and also because, like us, they have been working with Buckaroo for a long time. Moreover, we can now offer post-payment options in many of the countries where we are active."
Medpets is active in six European countries, which makes offering post-payment an important option. "Customers who, for example, order something in Germany initially distrust a package that is shipped from the Netherlands," explains Van der Graaff.
"German customers choose post-payment because it guarantees they will have the package at home before paying. Customers who need a specific product for their pet also benefit from Riverty, as they can receive the product first and pay later. As a webshop, this allows you to appeal to a broader audience."
Approximately 10 percent of Medpets’ Dutch customers choose to pay afterwards, and in other European countries this percentage is about the same. The payment method is steadily gaining ground in the Netherlands: 5 million people have paid with Riverty at least once, and the service sees its market share growing every year.
Research by market research agency Ruigrok NetPanel shows that pay later can increase conversion: 46 percent of respondents say they are more likely to order products online instead of buying in a physical store if they can pay with Riverty. In addition, 43 percent say they are more likely to purchase products they are unsure about if they can pay later. For webshop owners, a major advantage is that Riverty assumes the risk of non-payment, ensuring they always receive their money.
