In a former church building in the heart of Weesp, you’ll find Wispe Brewery. A craft brewery with its own tasting room, distillery and event venue. Wispe has grown into a versatile hospitality concept where craftsmanship, guest experience and local identity come together. From beer brand to total experience

What makes Wispe unique is the combination of craft-brewed specialty beers, historical charm and hospitality. They don’t just want to tell that story offline: Wispe is also expanding online, with a webshop, ticket sales and a digital extension of their brand. “We don’t want to be a standard hospitality venue,” says Jitze Vellenga, co-owner of Wispe Brewery. “We’re building a place where you taste, discover, learn and come back. A smooth payment process is part of that, because experience is also in the small details.”

The reason: frustration at the checkout

For Wispe, the collaboration with Buckaroo started with a very practical challenge. The payment terminals they used in the restaurant and liquor store were slow and cumbersome. “Sometimes it took up to ten seconds for a payment to be confirmed. That frustrates not only our staff, but also disrupts the guest experience,” says Jitze. In search of speed, reliability and short lines of communication, Buckaroo came into the picture. Wispe uses the Buckaroo Smart Plus terminals in both the restaurant and the liquor store. In addition, Buckaroo handles transaction processing and payouts. Jitze: “The support department responds quickly, questions are handled properly and there are no more disruptions. That gives peace of mind, for us and for our guests.”

Jitze adds: “If guests don’t have to think about the payment at all, you know it’s right.”

Without guests even noticing, payments play a crucial role in the overall experience, and that is exactly where Buckaroo’s strength lies. “The best part is that we never actually have to hear anything about Buckaroo,” Jitze laughs. “And we mean that positively. It just works. No noise, no irritation, and that directly contributes to a smooth guest experience.” The ease of payment is not something that stands out, and that is exactly the intention. Jitze: “If you don’t notice the payment process, you know it’s working properly. In that respect, Buckaroo completely takes care of it for us.”

Looking ahead: from hospitality to omnichannel

In the coming years, Wispe wants to further professionalize, especially on the digital side. The webshop for beers and merchandise is under development, and ticket sales for events such as Oktoberfest or Have a Laugh Comedy Café are growing rapidly. Wispe also sees a role for Buckaroo in this: “We want to bring everything under one partner. Online payments for events, tours, retail sales and hospitality: everything has to run smoothly. Buckaroo has proven they can deliver that.”

Digitalization also plays a role in their broader vision for the future. From ticketing to online marketing and loyalty programs: the story of Wispe Brewery goes beyond just beer. Jitze: “We even made a documentary about our story. Ultimately, the entire experience, from the first click to the last sip, has to be right. And that means the payment flow also has to be professional, fast and reliable.”
