WeChatPay is the second largest e-wallet in China and is part of the WeChat app. With over 800 million users. Together with Alipay, they’re responsible for over 80% of all online and mobile payments in China.

In order to be able to pay with WeChat Pay, the Chinese consumer has to link a debit bank account or credit card to the e-wallet. When payments are made via WeChat Pay, be it via desktop or mobile, the amount is automatically debited from the account.

Online payment via WeChat Pay
What if Chinese consumers want to shop online using their pc or laptop? They can pay with WeChat Pay as well. In the checkout or on the payment page, a WeChat Pay QR code is shown. Your customers can scan this QR code onscreen with their mobile. They are then asked to log in on the WeChat Pay account in order to authorise the transaction.
