Postpay in Europe and The United States
Over 65 million consumers use Klarna. There are several payment methods: Betaal Nu (Pay Now), Betaal Later (Pay Later) and Betaal in Delen (Pay in Installments). Available in 14 European countries and in The United States. The payment brand is particularly popular amongst young people and in the fashion industry. Klarna can be identified by its playful character and pink payment icons during checkout.
The Pay Later method offers post payment. Because consumers only have to submit top of mind data while placing an order, checkout is easy and accessible. Consumers can place an order with Pay Later as soon as their purchase has been approved by a realtime credit check.
After receving the order, consumers can decide whether to return it or not. Consumers have 14 days to make up their mind. If the customer returns (part of) the order, Klarna adjusts the bill accordingly. Customers can snooze payment free of charge for 10 days. It’s also possible to extend the payment term with 30 days for a small additional fee.
As soon as the webshop informs Klarna that the order has been sent, Klarna will send the customer an email with the payment details, accompanied by a payment link to the Klarna App.
Because consumers only have to submit top of mind data, the conversion rate for the webshop will increase up to 10%. Thanks to the realtime credit check that is carried out as soon as the consumer places an order, the average acceptance rate is over 90%. Because Klarna covers financial risk, the webstore always receives payment. Payments with Klarna can be viewed realtime at Buckaroo Plaza.
Apart from Pay Later, Klarna offers other payment methods. Such as Pay Now, a direct European payment method similar to iDEAL, formerly known as Sofort. Klarna also offers Pay in Installments, which focuses on flexible payment in installments. Customers are offered the possibility to make a payment at their own pace in 3 or 4 installements (only available in Germany).
For consumers, Klarna is easy and userfriendly during checkout. For retailers, it offers a higher conversion rate and guaranteed payment.
Klarna was founded in 2005 in Stockholm in order to simplify payment procedures. Currently, Klarna is one of the fastest growing businesses in Europe. In 2014, Klarna and SOFORT joined forces and founded the Klarna Group. Klarna offers its services to over 45 million consumers and is used by 65,000 webshops.
