Whitepaper: Wholesale Solutions

Add new revenue models for your business

As a software provider, you want to facilitate your customers where possible. Offering a payment solution is increasingly a part of this. But what is involved in creating such a new revenue model?

Providers of financial and administrative software make life easier for their customers in numerous ways. They support their customers with smart software solutions, for example for the collection and processing of invoices and direct-debit orders, streamlining their (online) accounting and for smooth processing of recurring payments (increasingly important in the subscription economy). Other providers build specific software solutions for industries that serve many customers, such as motion and food apps for fitness centres and ordering apps for hospitality businesses. Also, more and more software providers are focusing on the growing number of services within the Internet of Things (IoT) and the (recurring) payments that come with it.

Processing payments yourself

Whatever smart software you are developing, setting up a payment strategy can be problematic. In order to make customers the best possible offer – also in the payment process – a lot of software companies maintain back-end connections with as many as ten or more different payment service providers. The customer can then choose which PSP they want to work with. As an intermediary you therefore have little influence on how the payment solution actually interacts with your software and on how the customer experiences the entire payment process. If there is a problem you are often not able to help and the customer is dependent on the PSP.

In order to better meet the needs of users, an increasing number of software providers are therefore opting to incorporate payments into their product and process them themselves via a so-called white-label payment solution. This has a number of advantages:

  • A better customer proposition
  • A new and scalable business model
  • Little impact on business operations
  • Customization and unburdening
  • And more..

How to process your own payments?

If you are a software provider considering expanding your product range with a scalable revenue model in which you process your own payments by means of a generic white-label payment solution, what should you pay attention to? And what considerations are involved? Tips, advice and more information you will read in our whitepaper "Adding payments solutions to fast scaling companies".
